Meaningful Initiatives by Alkoç Group in Memory of Eser Mumcuoğlu

Alkoç Group has undertaken a remarkable project to honor the memory of their young colleague Eser Mumcuoğlu, who tragically passed away in an accident.

Alkoç Group took an exemplary step to keep alive the name of their colleague Eser Mumcuoğlu, who died young in a tragic accident. The company sponsored the furnishing of the ITU Maritime Faculty Meeting Room and officially opened the room in a ceremony.

Eser Mumcuoğlu, a graduate of ITU Maritime Faculty, had earned the admiration of everyone in a short time during her tenure at Alkoç Group with her high discipline, love for her profession, and strong relationships with her teammates. Known for her hopeful outlook on life, cheerful demeanor, and hardworking nature, Mumcuoğlu’s untimely passing deeply saddened not only the company employees but all who knew her.

Gürhan Burak Alkoç, Chairman of Alkoç Group’s Board of Directors, stated, “We took this step to keep her memory alive, to inspire young female mariners, and to remind everyone of the importance of looking at life with hope. With this initiative, we wanted to reaffirm our commitment to ethical values and to carry Eser’s name to future generations. At every step, we will remember her smiling face, diligence, and hopeful perspective.”

As part of the memorial event, Alkoç Group also furnished Room 6 at the ITU Maritime Faculty Binali Yıldırım Dormitory. This contribution, regarded as a gesture of gratitude to their alma mater, sets an example for the industry.

Additionally, the Tiny House project, donated for the faculty’s Teknofest team and prepared to support students, was named after Eser Mumcuoğlu.

The meeting room within the ITU Maritime Faculty will now bear Mumcuoğlu’s name and serve as a place for nurturing young mariners.

The memorial ceremony was attended by Alkoç Group Chairman Gürhan Burak Alkoç and company employees, as well as ITU Maritime Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Özcan Aslan, DEFAV Foundation President Captain Koray Karagöz, UYBM Association President Chief Engineer İlker Meşe, and foundation staff.
