The value of Dear Eser M. is now closely related. RIP.

While approximately 85% of global trade is carried out via maritime transport, the number of women working in the maritime industry continues to grow each day.

According to data from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, over 6,000 Turkish women are actively employed in the maritime sector, taking on roles at ports, offices, or on ships. Alkoç Group, one of the rising brands in Turkish maritime, is among the companies leading this transformation.

Operating with a workforce of around 200 people, Alkoç Group has surpassed a 10% female employment rate, and in the company’s management office, this rate has reached as high as 40%. Currently, 12 women are employed in various departments at the company, and this number is expected to increase in line with the company’s growth strategies.

Gürhan Burak Alkoç, Chairman of the Board at Alkoç Group, emphasized the value female employees bring to the company, stating:

“In parallel with the global increase in the number of female seafarers, the proportion of women in our workforce is also rapidly rising. The problem-solving skills and diligence of Turkish women are driving us forward. When I saw women working in challenging roles at shipyards in the Far East, my perspective on this matter began to change. Having Turkish women involved in our long-term projects with their prudence, dynamism, and meticulousness significantly contributes to our pursuit of excellence.”

The women working in various departments at Alkoç Group include:

  • Güneş Çelikten – Group Coordinator

  • Özlem Kütükçü – Accounting Manager

  • Melisa Koyuncu – Operations Chief

  • Şevval Aktaş – Corporate Communications Specialist

  • Emine Can – Sales and Marketing Manager

  • Bahar Uzakova – Administrative Affairs Supervisor

  • Aleyna Çiftçi – Ship Broker

  • Eser Mumcuoğlu – Project Manager

  • Hatice Negüzel – Administrative Affairs Staff

The female employees at the company expressed their gratitude to Gürhan Burak Alkoç for his emphasis on women’s employment, stating:

“The number of female employees increases every day, and we thank our Chairman for this vision.”
